"Tybee Tyme" by Gary Lee Tolley (Country Artist from West Virginia(WV))

Gary Lee Tolley is all over the board on his latest record, "Tybee Tyme." Although most of the tracks have that Jimmy Buffet beach flare to them, there are also some nice hints of country and Irish sounds on the album. The seaside themes are most fitting on songs like "Tybee Island" and "I've Got Mexico." Listen to any one of these tracks and you'll swear you're sitting on the sand listening to the waves rolling in. Tolley also features a cover of the Righteous Brothers classic, "Unchained Melody," a song which Gary performs with his own style and grace. Don't forget to check out "Poor Boys Delight" with its calming Celtic vibe. Tolley does offer an eclectic mix on "Tybee Tyme," but any Buffet fan will dig it for sure.

"In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul" by Harry Smyer (Spiritual Artist from California(CA))

Harry Smyer is a talent that we hope will be heard by the whole world soon enough. His record, "In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul," is a tasty mix of 50's soul and southern gospel. Although each song is spiritually themed, this shouldn't stop you from giving this record a good chance if that genre isn't your thing. Smyer's vocals are steeped in the sounds of Sam & Dave or Eddie Kendricks, which is no easy feat. Whether it's "Walk Around Heaven All Day" or "I Got Something Within Me," Smyer consistently delivers a fine performance and will make you wish he was preaching down the street from your house. There is also a beautiful classic gospel cover, "Just a Closer Walk With Thee," which he eloquently puts his own stamp on. Be sure to give a good listen to the fine guitar playing on this record which is very James Burton-esque. Whether you're a gospel fan or just looking for some good soul music, Harry Smyer and his album, "In Season Songs for the Sin Sick Soul," is the way to go.

"On Roads" by Tremblay Evans (Folk/Country Artist from Michigan (MI))

Highly influenced by the roots of American music, Tremblay Evans delivers a well polished batch of folk songs on their recent CD "On Roads." This trio's songwriting style reflects the old Americana sounds, by just simply describing everyday life and what we all go through. The overall band tone also has a great 60's throwback sound and only features guitar, harmonica, banjo and mandolin. "Love Isn't Enough" is a standout track that eloquently mixes the writing style of Woody Guthrie and the vocal impressions of Buddy Holly. Another notable track is "The Coming Up and Going Down," a song that tells the tale of the average person and what transpires throughout their life. "On Roads" is a perfect listen for anyone who enjoys the classic folk sounds of the 1960's.

"Let It Go" by Fishing With Dynamite (Country Artist from Georgia (GA))

Charlie Daniels once said "The South's Gonna Do it Again" and it very much has with the recently released CD, "Let it Go" by the country rock group Fishing With Dynamite. The Southern Rock genre has had a gaping hole in it every since the tragic lost of Lynyrd Skynyrd's front man Ronnie Van Zant, but Fishing With Dynamite is gladly taking the reins of contemporary southern-fused rock. Give "Gone and Faded" a good listen and you'll know exactly what we mean. The band oozes Charlie Daniels with the use of violin as the primary solo instrument and kicks it up a notch with the rocking vibes of the band, The Outlaws. They also tone it down a bit and play some heartfelt country tunes on songs like "For Granted" and "Hank, I Hope You Were Right." Also, be sure to listen to the excellent slide guitar work on "Backwoods Man." Any fan of Charlie Daniels or Toby Keith will love "Let it Go" as this disc is filled with good old country rock.

"God, Love & Mexico" by Game Six (Country Artist from Washington (WA))

The musical duo, Game Six, mixes country music with spiritual themes, tropical, folk, rock, Latin, and jazz sounds on "God, Love & Mexico." Their sound is primarily country, but the choices of instrumentation really throws each song in a different direction. For instance, "Shamrock Bar" has the classic pedal steel sound which is very much associated with country, but it is played more in a Hawaiian/Slack key form with a tropical drum groove underneath. "Bahia de Banderas" is also another unique track that features some eclectic Mexican sounds with a sweet brass section and the occasional Spanish sung vocals. "God, Love & Mexico" is a great CD for any Jimmy Buffet fan as it mixes country with tropical themes throughout.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Gayle Lynn and the Hired Hands with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Just Came Around"

"Just Came Around" by Gayle Lynn and the Hired Hands is a wonderful country music album with a hint of folk attributes. Lynn's vocals are strong and heartfelt while her creative lyrics express everything from harsh realities to love. These lyrics are exhibited in the ballads and lively tunes alike, creating a nice assortment of songs on this album. Strong musicians reflect the solid harmonic foundation throughout the entire album. You'll love the steel guitar with its sliding characteristic feature on "Think of You Sometimes." A dash of rock gives "Live Oak Lane" a lively tempo and the feeling of happiness. The harmonies on "Singing Cowboys" and "Whiskey Shot Side" are an impressive flavor of the country sound. The traditional country music with a taste of folk is well worth listening to on the album "Just Came Around" by Gayle Lynn and the Hired Hands.

RadioIndy is pleased to present Brad Creel with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Reveeled"

Get a taste of entertaining country/bluegrass music when you take a listen to "Reveeled" by Brad Creel. As a talented and whimsical artist, Creel takes his lyrics to the next level of songwriting. Be sure to listen to the lyrics of each track as they define a tale of sorrowful heartbreak or maybe something you have done wrong in your life, which is twisted in a way to make you laugh. The instruments are clean and crisp providing true country flavor which enhance the amusing lyrics. A true down-to-earth song is "What We Ain't" because the message is that you don't have to be a star to be happy. As you listen to "Down at the Bar" you will feel as if you are down at the bar, with background voices talking and singing along so realistically. "Reveeled" is a hilarious country/bluegrass album that will make you laugh and cry, and is definitely worth a listen.
